 This
company originally launched their site in November 1999, using a
format and design created by company management. I consulted with the
company just prior to launch, creating their branding and some site area
graphics. In April 2000, while handling TooHome's advertising and promotional
design needs, upgrading on-site promotions and informational areas and
training their production staff, I was asked to create and submit mock-ups
for a complete site makeover.
The new design called for consistency in product display and information
formatting, which had been lacking in the original version, along with
major changes in navigation logic and data management. Pre-production
required several thousand site-related product images to be re-created,
databases modified and new administration schemes to be developed.
Production of the new site began early June 2000, and was completed in
just over three weeks by myself and a single programmer under my direction.
Below are screen shots showing the orginal site and the new version alongside
it. Elements that are noticeably retained are those which I had already
injected into an interim upgrade of the original site design. There are
too many major design changes to show here on one page, but those shown
demonstrate some of the dramatic differences between to two site versions.
